Tomorrow will mark the Winter Solstice
Tomorrow will mark the Winter Solstice – the shortest day of the year and the longest night. After that, we are to believe that summer will gradually make its way back – warmer weather , longer days.
But there will be many freezing weeks ahead still before it warms up, and so PLEASE support us with our collection of blankets and warm clothes for those people who shiver their way through the winter. Tomorrow is the annual POLAR PLUNGE at Grey Dam – 7am – when some of our hardier locals will plunge into the icy water and swim around the beacon, returning to the shore for a cup of steaming hot chocolate !
Come along and support them, and swap a blanket or item of warm clothing for some hot chocolate. The Rotary Club of Grahamstown Sunset joins with PG Cares this year to collect the blankets and clothing for distribution to needy families in our community.
We hope to see a crowd of you there tomorrow morning! 07h00 at Grey Dam!

Polar Plunge Update
Since the Polar Plunge at Grey Dam on 21 June, kind citizens of Grahamstown have been delivering blankets and warm clothes at PG Glass for us to distribute to needy families who are struggling to keep warm.
Into The Light
…and it is done! “Into the light” is what they yelled as they entered the icy water to swim a length in Grey Dam at 7am this morning – those brave/mad people who welcomed the Winter Solstice at the Polar Plunge!
A quick training plunge!
When I enquired how your Polar Plunge training was going last week, local resident and Rotarian Luc Marechal took me seriously and popped off for a quick training plunge!
